Mikalena Neal, 24, of Yankton

Mikalena died Wednesday, May 14, 2025 the result of an automobile accident near Worthing, SD. Wake services were Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the White Swan Community Center in lake Andes. Final viewing and services were at 9 AM, Monday at the White Swan Community Center and burial to follow in the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Mikalena was born on January 2, 2001 to Henrietta Bruguier and Mike Neal at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.

She grew up on the Yankton Sioux Reservation and partly in Navajo, New Mexico. She attended school at Andes Central and in later years she attended Marty Indian School. She lived with her mother Henrietta Neal until they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She worked in various jobs and later in life was blessed with two sons, Anthony Jay McBernie and Daniel Jacob McBernie.

Mikalena leaves to mourn two sisters, Megan and Latisha; five brothers; Mike, Vance, Quentino, Quentano, and Dion; her two sons, Anthony and and Daniel; and many relatives and family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather Quentin Bruguier Sr.

Mikalena will be missed for her smile and laughter.
