Murel Deurmier, 72, of Marion
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation is Tuesday at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner with the family present from 5 PM until & 7 PM.
Murel Duane Deurmier was born February 5, 1939 at Wagner, SD, the son of Walt and Virginia (Stafford) Deurmier. He died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Murel attained the age of 72 years, eight months and a day.
Murel was raised in Wagner and attended school through the eighth grade. He worked in a creamery in Wagner delivering milk until he started trucking. He married Norma Tieszen in 1959. They lived in Yankton. Three sons were born to their union. Murel later moved to Arkansas where he worked for Blundt Construction until moving back to Marion in 1997. He owned and operated the Coffee Cup in Marion from 2000 until 2004, until his health caused him to retire.
Murel enjoyed playing bingo, pool and darts.
Thankful for having shared his life are his partner, Ione Haddican of Monroe, SD; children: Ed and wife Lori of Yankton and Jim of Yankton; two grandchildren: Megan and husband David Kuhl of Salem and Mark of St. Charles; one great grandson, Jazee Kuhl; six step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; brother, Robert Deurmier and Shirley Brown of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Marge and husband Ed Moe of Libby, MT; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Murel was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark and brother, Dale.
