Narcisse Roger "Chuck" Ashes, 67, of Lake Andes

Chuck died Monday, October 12, 2009 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Narcisse Roger "Chuck" Ashes was born at Wagner, South Dakota on February 20, 1942, the son of Cephas Ashes, Sr. and Florence Zephier.

Chuck was raised 8 miles south of Wagner by his grandmother, Susan Feather Irving. He attended school in Marty. He then attended a Vo-Tech to be a heavy equipment operator and mechanic.

Chuck married Linda Allen on September 21, 1964. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and truck driver. Chuck was also a talented artist.

Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Gayland Ashes of Mitchell; Dana Ashes of Puckwana; Susan Clevenger of Puckwana; SeVern and wife Mary Ashes of Vermillion; and Brandi Ryan of Grand Island, NE; mother, Florence Drapeau of Wagner; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Cephas Ashes, Jr.; Galen Drapeau; Glen Drapeau; Ida Drapeau and Bonnie Drapeau; Winfred "Chop" Ashes; Lynette Ashes and Kenny Ashes; foster parents, George and Alice Easterling of Wagner; and many relatives and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father.
