Neva Raysby, 86, of Avon

Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon. Visitation will be the hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Avon is in charge of arrangements.

Neva A. Raysby was born October 22, 1932 to Felix A. and Violet M. (Barta) Kloucek in Dante, SD. She died Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall.

Neva attended grade school in Dante and then attended high school in Avon until March of her senior year when her family moved to Tyndall. She graduated from Tyndall High School in 1950. She then obtained her teaching degree from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. Neva taught country school for two years in the Dante area.

Neva married Gordon Raysby on August 30, 1953 in Tyndall, SD. They made their home in Yankton where they both worked at Gavins Point Dam. Neva worked in the office and Gordon worked in a crane. Later they moved to Chamberlain working during the construction of Big Bend Dam. They then made a move to Platte where they spent the majority of their married life. While living in Platte, Neva worked as a legal secretary, had her own CPA office and was the Business Manager at the Platte Community School until her retirement. On August 30, 2004 they moved to Avon. After Gordy died Neva worked at Mensch Wholesale Greenhouse. In May of 2018 she moved to the Assisted Living Center in Springfield.
Neva was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star, having held offices in both organizations.

Neva is survived by her brother Royd F. (Sharon) Kloucek of Albany, OR; brother-in-law Neil Raysby of Geddes; sisters-in-law: Zona (Leon) Robsham and Lois Raysby, both of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Neva was preceded in death by her husband Gordon on November 17, 2006; her parents; her sister Ione Brandt; two brothers: Lane Kloucek and Dale Kloucek; brothers-in-law: Wallace Brandt, Lawrence, Thorwald, and Noel Raysby; and sisters-in-law: Arlene Kloucek, Darlene, Cora, and Mary Raysby.
