Obituary

Memorial Services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont. There will be a Prayer Service at 7 PM, Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors and Patriot Guard.

Niel Warren Anderson was born March 1, 1938 at Wagner, SD, the son of Nels C. and Christine (Thompson) Anderson. He died November 22, 2015 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Niel graduated from Ravinia High School in 1956. He served in the US Army from September of 1956 to September of 1959 and was honorably discharged.

Niel was united in marriage to Wanda Raabe on October 7, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wagner. They farmed southwest of Wagner on the Raabe homestead for six years. They moved to Northglenn, CO in 1969, where he worked in construction as a drywall finisher for 10 years. They moved back to SD in 1979, settling in Delmont. Niel was self-employed as a drywall finisher in business with his brother Jack. Niel retired in 2000 due to health reasons.

Niel was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee. He was also a Delmont Volunteer Fireman for over 30 years, was a member of the Tri-Del Golf Club, Delmont City Council and Delmont Community Watch.

Niel will be remembered for his love for his family, his quick wit and sense of humor, and his enjoyment of bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Wanda of Delmont; son Raymond (Connie) Anderson of Delmont; daughter Samantha (Jeff) Skinner of Blaine, MN; four grandchildren: Alex Anderson of Mitchell, Katharina Anderson of Mitchell, Jacob and Ian Skinner of Blaine, MN; three brothers: Jack (Norma) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, Jimmy Anderson of Mitchell and Winkie (Judy) Anderson of Glendale, AZ; and five sisters: Anita Engel of Sioux Falls, Eileen Ayres of Kalispell, MT, Lois Burt of Ft. Worth, TX, Joyce (Richard) Richardson of Sioux Falls and Jeanne Gavette of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Niel was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rozelle Anderson; brother, Ray Anderson; sisters: Betty in infancy, Ardis as a child, Karen Kittinger and Naomi McEntaffer.
