Norma Eggers, 79, of Wagner
Norma died Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM, Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation is Thursday from 2 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner followed by a Rosary at 7 PM, Thursday at the church.
Norma Jean Miller was born December 26, 1936n in Chanute, KS to Omer and Louise (VanPatten) Miller. They moved a number of times before settling in Wagner where her father Omer owned and operated Miller's Dime Store. She graduated from Wagner High School in 1955 and went to work for NW Bell Telephone Company.
On November 26, 1956 she was united in marriage to Waldon J. Eggers at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner. They resided south of Wagner on the family farm where Norma took the role of farm wife and mother.
Norma was fun-loving and outgoing. She loved gardening, sewing, baking and music. She was active in her church, St. John's Catholic in Wagner and served there many years baking kolaches for Sunday breakfast and pies for the Fall Bazaar. She also sang in the choir.
Norma loved music and made sure each of her children were given the same opportunity. She made time in her busy day to see to it they got to their piano and guitar lessons.
Later after retiring to town, she enjoyed visiting over coffee at Jane's Country and Boom's with her many friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Waldon of Wagner, four children: Marjorie (Gary) Beckman of Parker, James (Peggy) Eggers of Wagner, Paul (Patty) Eggers of Wagner and Paulette Eggers of Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother Harold Miller of Brandon; sister Marjorie (Gary) Mcfarland of Madison, MN along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeanette, her parents, Omer and Louise Miller; her mother and father-in-law, Ann and Fred Eggers and two brothers, Howard and Richard Miller and sister-in-law, Jean Miller.
