Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon, with burial in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Visitation will be at the church from 3 to 7 Wednesday, followed by a 7 pm prayer service. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home of Avon is in charge of the arrangements.
Olive C. Voigt was born at Wagner, SD on July 31, 1924, the daughter of Charles O. and Myrtle (Kelley) Ridgway. She died Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Olive attained the age of 86 years, two months and four days.
Olive attended country school. She married Fred Voigt in Hartington, NE on October 9, 1941. Together they farmed southwest of Avon for many years. In 1968 they left the farm and moved into Avon. They moved to Nebraska for a few years and then returned to Avon. Olive babysat for many years, washed dishes at the cafe in Avon and helped Fred with lawn work.
Olive was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women.
Olive will be remembered for her love of embroidery work.
Thankful for having shared her life are her three children: Ray and wife Audrey Voigt of Avon; Donna Draskovic of Truth or Consequences, NM; and Kathy and husband Gary Frank of Avon; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Alberta and husband Chris Hargens of Sioux Falls; and many relatives and friends.
Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Fred on July 23, 2009; her son Richard in 2004; great grandson Jayden Jager; parents; five sisters: Mamie Dunsmore; Byrdie Walker; Hazel Dunsmore; Lula Ridgway; and Lola Stack; and five brothers: Arthur "Buck"; Albert; Richard "Dick"; Earl; and Charles "Charley" Ridgway.
