Oscar Bernie, 24, of Springfield

Oscar died Saturday, May 28, 2022 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, IA, the result of a motorcycle accident. Funeral services are 1 PM, Friday, June 3, 2022 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Burial is in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Wake services will be held at the White Swan Center beginning at 7 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Oscar Bernie was born on February 12, 1998 to Rachel Bernie and Byron Standing Cloud in Yankton, SD. He attended Anne Sullivan Elementary School in Sioux Falls, SD. It was there that he developed a passion for sports as he first played basketball and soccer for the YMCA. He also attended Wagner Community School (the year the Wagner Raiders beat the Marty Braves :). He went on to Marty Indian School and graduated in 2016. He attended college at Nueta, Hidatsa, Sahnish NHS (Fort Berthold) Community College in New Town, ND where he played basketball for "The Storm".

Oscar worked many jobs including the Fort Randall Casino, the Ohiya Casino, Baldwin in Yankton, BCI in Sioux Falls, a flagger for a construction company in Sioux Falls and was currently a Response Coordinator at the Santee Sioux Nation.

After meeting Tori Tuttle on November 3, 2016 they welcomed their son, Taytum Andre, who was his world, on August 2, 2020. Tori and Oscar were united in marriage on July 3, 2021. Oscar treated Tori like a queen.

Oscar had many achievements in his life. Some of them were playing basketball where he received many trophies, plaques and 1st place jackets in tournaments. He went to state as a cross country runner, ran the Mother Earth 5K Run in Boulder, CO, the 5K Warrior Run in Arizona, Ozzy B gaming video creator, had his own detailing business called E-Zee Detailing & Customs and created his own YouTube channel, Oz & Tor which had over 1,000 followers.

Oscar started to sundance at an early age. He was the fire chief at sundance, He was always willing to help in any way possible.

Oscar was known for always having a smile on his face. His grandmother and family have always known him to be someone special.

Oscar is survived by his wife Tori and son Taytum; his mother Rachel and his father Byron; five brothers: Felipe, Dom, Michael, Wicahpeto Waci "Chop" and Ben; two sisters: Juliana and Gabriella; his grandparents Earlwin Bernie, Rich and Nancy Neiss along with many, many cousins and relatives.

Oscar was preceded in death by his uncle Joseph Bernie, his aunt Patty Bernie, his father-in-law Dale Tuttle, Jr., and his brother Byron Standing Cloud, Jr.
