Parnell Randolph Necklace, Wanapin Gaga Hoksina
Parnell "Sado" Necklace was born April 27, 1945 in Greenwood, South Dakota to Benedict Necklace and Sybil (Eagle). He spent his childhood in Yankton, South Dakota along with his siblings. He was a certified welder and traveled around with his best friend Duane Standing Bear, building water towers for ten years.
He then settled down and worked for Alkota Steele until he injured his back and was offered retirement. At this time he embraced his Dakota culture and became an educator and master of drum making. His drums can be heard from all directions including over seas. He started a family drum group Maza Napin (Iron Necklace) with his children, nieces, and nephews. They traveled all over to powwows and toured France, Norway, Sweden, Spain, and England. Parnell relocated his family to Ohio in 2000, where he lived with his wife Grace until his passing.
