Paul Arnold, 65, of Chicago
Paul Eskcus Arnold started his journey home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Paul was born in Charles Mix, South Dakota on June 10th, 1960, and is the son of the late Vera Mae Feather and Ring Eskcus Arnold. Paul was immensely proud to be an enrolled Member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. Paul is the youngest of four siblings John Sr., Denise, and David, his nephews & nieces: John Dobbs III (Denise), Chaske Wilson, Winona Mae (Dobbs) Goodleft, Shaka Freeman, Biko (Precious) Freeman, Joy (Dobbs) Fryer, and David Dobbs. Great Nieces: Summer, Carina, Sharon, Lillian, Virtue, Etta, and Joy. Great Nephews: Johnathan, Christopher. Paul's Chicago Family (Arnold/Evens/Crawford) there are countless memories and family celebrations that were shared with Paul throughout the years in Chicago, he will be greatly missed. Paul was also a caregiver to Cousin Leon Donegan (Arnold), until he passed in Chicago, Illinois in 2023. Paul also met Kim Abel in 2004 a significant figure in his life, with whom he shared a great love and enduring friendship.
Paul began his education at Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL 1978 and went onto Kishwaukee College, Malta, IL during 1980 and earned Associate of Science degree in January 1984. He continued onto Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois and onto the Native American Educational Services College, Chicago, Illinois. California Indian Manpower Consortium, Inc. Leadership Training for Entrepreneurial/Small/Economic Development 2014-2015. Paul began "FEATHERGROUP LLC." his own Native American Full Service Real Estate Consulting Firm/Business Development Services in 2014-Present. Paul also served on the American Indian Health Services Board in Chicago, Illinois from 2005 to the Present with him being the IHS Board Chair for 4 Terms. He was also a Youth Mentor and Coach with the Y.M.C.A of Metropolitan Chicago. Paul also attended the Episcopal St. James Cathedral Church in Chicago, IL.
In 2010 Paul reached out to his older brother "David's" daughter, his niece Winona Dobbs-Goodleft in North Dakota, for whom he said he was searching for years. They connected by phone, email and finally met in person in 2013. He then met his extended family, Sister-In-Laws Monica (Fox) Dobbs, Zandra (Fox) Ziebart), nieces, Winona, Heather, & Tanya, nephews, Sheldon, Colter, George, and Robert. Grand Children: David (Cylee), Tara (Andrew), Trey (Brittany), Payton, Morgan, Heaven, Jayli (Jordan), Tavares (Marlana), Amiah (Ryan), Labrada, Torstyn, & Tekele. Great Grand Children: Nakiah, Adria, Cashus, Cedar, Takonah Bless & Tavares Jr. The bond grew and he became connected to more family with him being known as Brother, Uncle/Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandfather. Paul stepped in for his older brother David and as a father he walked his niece/daughter Winona down the aisle on June 7, 2014, at her wedding. Paul shared a lot of adventures in North Dakota with nieces & nephews, grandkids, and great grandchildren. When Paul visited, he also attended so many family functions as he could from birthdays to graduations, great-granddaughters' gymnastics, track, basketball events, special holidays and sometimes he said he just needed a break from city life. Winona's family wanted him to move to North Dakota, but he would always say in time. Paul left a great impression on all who met him when he visited the family and in the community on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
