Pearl Schultz, 93, of Springfield
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Friedensberg Bible Church, rural Avon. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield.
Pearl Evelyn Schultz was born on November 30, 1923 in Corsica, SD to Jerry and Dena (Wieten) DeJong. She passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Tyndall Good Samaritan Center. She attained the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 8 days.
Pearl attended elementary school at Corsica. Her parents moved to Springfield in 1942. During WWII Pearl worked in an airplane factory in Michigan. Pearl married Kenneth Schultz on February 27, 1946 at her parents' home in Springfield. Besides Springfield they also lived in Portland, OR and Odessa, TX. In the early 1950's Schultz Construction was established. In 1969 Schultz Ready Mix began. Pearl was the secretary and accountant for these businesses until her retirement.
Pearl was a faithful member of Friedensburg Bible Church in rural Avon, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, assisting in Bible School and participating in Women in Mission for many years. She was also a long-time member of the Gideons. Pearl enjoyed bowling, gardening, assisting as a cook at Bible camp, and traveling. She was able to visit every state as well as Australia and Israel.
Thankful to have shared her life are her children: Judy Jones of Irene, Terry (Monica) Schultz of Avon, and Shelly (Marlyn) Palsma of Springfield; 10 grandchildren: Bret Jones, Nathanael Jones, Daron Jones, Christa (Dennis) Cropper, Scott (Emily) Schultz, Nathan (Autumn) Schultz, Amy (Joe) Reiser, Natalie Schultz, Adam (Jennifer) Palsma, and Ashley (A.J.) Armstrong; 23 great-grandchildren: Kristianna, Thomas, Nathaneal, Zachory, Jeremiah, and Alexander Jones; Evan, Victoria, Jonathan, and Sabrina Cropper; Alex, Cullen, Evelyn, Beckett, and Braxton Schultz; Corbyn, Spencer, Tatum, and Paige Palsma; Kinsley, Kasen, Kennisyn, and Kutter Armstrong.
Pearl was preceeded in death by her husband Kenneth (February 21, 1979); her parents; 4 sisters: Elizabeth Vlasman, Dora Namminga, Henrietta Vlasman, and Minnie Rose Hubregtse; 8 brothers: Jerry, Louis, John, Bill, Gerrit, Marion, Lambert, & Herb DeJong; son-in-law Jerry Jones, Sr.; and grandsons Jerry Wayne Jones, Jr. and Timothy Konrad Jones.
