Peggy Ann Cournoyer, 62, of Marty

Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Rosary/ Wake services are 7:30 PM Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.

Peggy Ann (Goodteacher) Cournoyer was born in Winnebago, Nebraska on March 26, 1953, the daughter of Adolph and Vera Kateri (Peniska) Goodteacher. On February 14, 2016 she made her journey to the Spirit World at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, with her husband, Steve, by her side.

While growing up Peggy attended St. Michael's in South Sioux City, IA. Her high school years were spent at St. Paul's Indian School where she met her husband Stephen Cournoyer Jr. She also graduated from DWU with a Bachelors Degree. Peggy worked at the St. Paul's Indian Mission accounting office, Threshold Youth Services in Sioux Falls, Marty Indian School and Lewis & Clark Mental Health in Yankton.

She is survived by her husband Stephen Cournoyer Jr.; her children: Stephen Cournoyer III (Debbra Houseman) and their kids, Stephen IV, Gabriel and Zachary, Denis (Meredith) Cournoyer of Mission and their kids, Raven and Slade and Denis's son Kenyon Fast Horse, Jennifer Cournoyer (Joshua McGee) of Sioux Falls and children Amanda, Emilio Cournoyer and Essence McGee; Jodi Cournoyer (Donald Tinklepaugh) of Sioux Falls and kids Annabeth and Alexandra, Bess Cournoyer (Anthony Aadland) of Flandreau and daughter Madison; great grandchildren Ava and Addison; her siblings: Laura and Keith Dahl of Des Moines, IA, Cletus and Mary Goodteacher of Sisseton, Lonnie Good Teacher of Lewiston, ID, and Celeste Goodteacher of Flandreau; and many relatives and friends.

Peggy enjoyed her family and was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, which brought her great joy. She was also an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Kateri Circle in Marty.
