Ray Berry, 89, of Wagner

Funeral services are 10 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Lighthouse in Wagner. Burial is in St. Phillip's Episcopal Cemetery, Lake Andes, with military honors.

Ray Berry, son of Charlie and Neffie (Willis) Berry passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, January 9, 2023 in Sioux Falls, SD at the Dougherty Hospice House.

Ray was born in Ardmore, OK on October 20, 1933. He was raised in Ardmore and then moved to California for a short period of time and then returned to Oklahoma where he lived most of his years.

He worked as an escort pilot driver and set up mobile homes for a mobile trailer company for 30 plus years.

He met the love of his life, Dorothy Marks, in 1977 and lived happily together for 31 years until her passing.

Ray was a veteran that served in the Air Force for 9 years who was then honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

Ray was a good provider to his family. He was a kind and gentle person who loved dogs and cats, rescuing strays when possible.

His final years in the nursing home Ray felt a closeness to those who worked with him and would ask about staff frequently.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and his loving beautiful wife Dorothy.

He is survived by his 4 stepchildren: Melissa, Vernon, Tina and Kim; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
