Raymond Voigt was born April 19, 1945 in Avon, SD, the son of Fred and Olive (Ridgway) Voigt. He died Monday, February 18, 2013, surrounded by his family and dog, Minnie on his lap at his home in Avon.
Ray attended grade school at the Rouse School west of Avon and then graduated from Avon High School in 1963. After high school, Ray worked at the Wickens Ranch south of Avon for several years. Ray married Audrey Raysby on June 6, 1970 at Avon. They farmed and milked north of Avon until 1979, when he went to work for CR Industries. He worked there until he and Audrey opened the North Vue Cafe and Quickstop, which they enjoyed and operated for eight years. For the past 15 years he had worked for Walmart in Yankton.
Ray enjoyed many things. He loved to hunt, trap and fish. If he wasn't at work or mowing you could be sure he was fishing or getting ready to go fishing.
Ray loved his family very much and could usually be found with at least one of them with him or very close behind.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Audrey of Avon; daughter, Mellissa and husband Mike Petrik of Avon; three sons: Brian and wife Jessica of Avon; Bryce and wife Charleen of Avon; and Bradley and wife Tiffany of Avon. He will also be deeply missed by his fifteen grandchildren and his one great grandson. He loved them all and would do just about anything for them. Ray is also survived by his sister, Kathy and husband Gary Frank of Avon; sister Donna Draskovic of Truth or Consequences, NM; and mother-in-law, Cora Raysby of Avon.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Shorty Raysby; and his brother, Richard.
