Richard E. Hanson, 78, of Lake Andes

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Edwin Hanson was born December 19, 1939 in Clear Lake, SD the son of Edwin and Marie (Schurnbuk) Hanson. He died Monday, June 18, 2018 at his home in Lake Andes.
Richard spent his early years on the farm 5 miles east and 2.5 north of Watertown. He served in the US Navy. After the service, Richard worked as a mechanic in Webster. He later worked for the FBI mechanic shop in Las Vegas, NV. He was a mechanic, truck driver and heavy equipment operator for most of his life. During his working life, Richard lived all over the United States.
Richard was a very easy going and quiet man. He always made friends wherever he lived. He will be remembered for his love of restoring old tractors, cars and pickups. He loved tinkering with old and big equipment and could work on anything. Richard also enjoyed horses.
Thankful for having shared his life are his brother Frank and wife Ana Hanson of Lake Andes, sister Normay and husband Stewart Berglund of Colorado Springs, CO, and many other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mildred Marie Hanson and many aunts and uncles.
