Richard H. Miller, 67 of Dakota Dunes, SD and formerly of Wagner

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner followed by burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner with military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 to the time of service, with the family present for times of sharing.

Richard Henry Miller, son of Omer and Louise (Van Patten) Miller, was born March 8, 1947 at Yankton, SD. He died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at his home in Dakota Dunes under hospice care. Rich attained the age of 67 years, eight months and 26 days.

Richard graduated from Wagner High School in 1965 and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1974.

Richard worked for IBP/Tyson in Sioux City, IA from May 1974 to May 2012 as a business analyst.

Richard married Cheryl Houghtaling on April 8, 2013 and made their home in Dakota Dunes. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, trapping, jogging and teasing his grandkids. Rich was an avid USD basketball and Husker football fan. Every year, he looked forward to his trips to Biloxi, MS and the mountains.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Cheryl of Dakota Dunes; three daughters: Angie (Ira) Gaver of Council Bluffs, IA; Tammy Christopherson of Sioux Falls; and Christie Miller of Wheaton, IL; four grandchildren: Adeline and Carter Gaver and Jakob and Elle Christopherson; one brother, Harold (Joyce) Miller of Sioux Falls; two sisters: Norma (Waldon) Eggers of Wagner and Marjorie (Gary) McGarland of Madison; sister-in-law Jean Miller of Wagner; many nieces and nephews; step daughter, Jacee Warren of Sioux City, IA; and many friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother Howard; and two nieces: Toni (Miller) Lhotak and Jeanette Eggers.
