Rita Arrow, 69, of Wagner
Funeral services are 1 PM, Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the National Guard Armory in Wagner.
Rita Evelyn Arrow was born November 9, 1948, to Elizabeth (Whirlwind Soldier) Arrow and Delmar Arrow Sr., in Wood, SD. She passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner, surrounded by her family.
Rita graduated from White River High School and went onto college in Springfield, SD, attaining an Associate's Degree in Education. Rita married Lester Six Toes in October of 1969 and to this union they were blessed with three children, Trina Renee, Taryn Lynn and Travis James.
Rita was a long time employee of the Ft. Randall Casino; she retired in 2013 after 18 years of employment. Rita enjoyed going to activities such as music concerts, family gatherings and horseback riding, but her favorite pastime was playing Bingo with her Bingo companion, and fellow traveler, big sister Delma. They would also meet first thing in the morning for coffee and conversation.
Thankful for having shared her life are her husband of 49 years, Lester Six Toes of Wagner; daughter Trina Six Toes of Wagner, daughter Taryn (Craig) Marshall of Nolanville, TX, and son Travis Six Toes, Sr. of Wagner; 13 grandchildren: Aaron, and Shanice McKeen, Lucille Marshall, Brook (Owen) Hall, Micah (Rebekah) Marshall, Mariah (Nathan) Trimble, Jarrod, Kassie, and Jo Marshall, Miranda, Travis Jr., Drew, and Sage Six Toes; seven great grandchildren, with another due in August; six brothers: Fred, Delmar J., Elmer, Jim, David and Selmer; six sisters: Delma, Gilma, Betty, Jean, Lisa and Rose; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Whirlwind Soldier Arrow, her father, Delmar Arrow, Sr., and sister, Alva Bear Heels.
After going through Rita's belongings, a paper folded up old and tattered, was found in her wallet, in her handwriting it read: This Day is Mine: "The value of this day is impossible to measure, for it will never come again. I do not wish to regret its passing. What i do today is up to me and no one else. I could use it to good advantage or squander it away. The choice is mine; I will try to make my day one of success rather than failure, satisfaction rather than frustration, joy rather than pain, laughter rather than tears, contentment rather than worry and Love rather than hate". We know that Rita lived her life each day as this writing.
Rita will be greatly missed but her memories will forever remain in our hearts.
