Robert Andersh, 85, of Wagner
Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner with military honors. Visitation is Sunday from 3 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner followed by a 7 PM Rosary/Wake service at the church.
Robert Burnell Andersh was born February 16, 1933, the son of William and Helen (Petrik) Andersh, at the home farm east of Wagner. He died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner.
Bob received his education in Choteau Creek #5, east of Wagner, through the 8th grade. He graduated from Wagner High School in 1950. After high school, he helped his dad on the farm until he was drafted in to the Army in April of 1953. He was stationed in Hanau, Germany for I.B.M. training. While stationed in Hanau, he toured western Germany, Denmark, Holland, England and France. He enjoyed southern Bavaria south of Munich the most. He returned in the spring of 1955.
Bob married Eleanor Soukup on June 14, 1955. They lived with his folks for four months. They then moved to a farm north of Dante where they farmed for 10 years. While there, they were blessed with two children, David James and Jean Marie. While farming, he took a Civil Service test and in 1961, Bob took a job at the Wagner Post Office as a clerk for six years. He then transferred to be a Rural Route Mail Carrier.
In 1965, they built a house in Wagner. Bob retired from the Postal Service on November 30, 1990. He then took up dealing Blackjack at the Fort Randall Casino for 10 years.
Bob and Eleanor enjoyed traveling and went on some bus tours with the Farmers Union tours.
Bob was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of N.A.R.F.E. and was an original share holder of the Fort Randall Golf Course.
Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing pinochle with his playing buddies, and watching baseball and football games on tv.
Bob enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other little children, of which he was a teaser.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Eleanor of Wagner, son David (Pam) Andersh of Sioux Falls; daughter Jean Marie (Kevin) Nicholson of Rapid City; four grandchildren: April (Dave) Konz, Angie Boese, Kyle and Kari Nicholson; two great grandchildren: Macey Boese and Bentley Konz; two brothers: Richard (Dorothy) Andersh of Wagner, Raymond (Marcie) Andersh of Aberdeen; sister-in-law Deanna Andersh of Heron Lake, MN; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Joleen Nace; nephew, Gerald Andersh; brother Norman; father and mother-in-law, George and Mary Soukup; and his grandparents.
