Rodney Dean Johnson was born in Chamberlain, SD on May 1, 1936, the son of Herman and Vera (Dunn) Johnson. He passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his home on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, surrounded by family.

Rodney attended Kennedy #5 country school and graduated from Ravinia High School in 1954. After high school, he worked with his dad farming, and trucking grain, livestock and eggs.

Rodney served in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA from 1955 to 1957. He then moved back to the family farm and ran Johnson Trucking with his brother, Larry.

Rodney married Faye Cihak at the Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church in Dante, SD on November 27, 1965. A son and daughter were blessed to their union.

After the kids were grown, Rodney and Faye trucked together for many years for Houseman Trucking and V&S Trucking until he retired in 2007. Since then, he enjoyed sitting in his "favorite" chair in the kitchen watching the traffic go by the farm and visits from his friends and family. He never missed his Friday morning coffee and rolls with his brother, Larry. He also made sure to make a trip to town several times a week for Happy Hour to catch up with friends. He especially enjoyed his time spent with his kids and his 8 grandchildren.

Rodney was a member of the Wagner VFW Post 7319.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife of 52 years, Faye Johnson of Armour; his children: Brian (Kathy) Johnson of Lake Andes and Stacy (Chris) Moore of Urbandale, IA; grandchildren: Alex (Vanessa) Evans, Joe Evans, Baylee, Claire and AJ Johnson, and Katelyn, Gabey and Kinnick Moore; one sister, Evelyn Faller of Denver, CO; one brother, Larry (Sharon) Johnson of Lake Andes; sisters-in-law: Shirley Soukup of Lake Andes and Sharon Cihak of Wagner; and many nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald and sister-in-law Betty Johnson; and brothers-in-law: Ed Faller, Lawrence Soukup and Larry Cihak.
