Roger Frey, 80, of Avon

Roger died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston. Memorial services will be 1:30 P.M., Monday, March 6, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon is in charge of arrangements.

Roger Leroy Frey was born November 13, 1936 at Avon, SD, the son of Hobert and Eleanor (Budde) Frey. He died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston.

Roger graduated from Avon High School in 1954 and attended two years of college. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960.

Roger married Lorraine Mae Baltus on June 24, 1961 in Hector, MN. Roger worked on building Gavins Point Dam and for the highway construction of Highways 46 and 50. He farmed from 1961 until 1997. He raised corn, soybeans, milo, alfalfa, hogs, cattle and chickens.

Roger was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Roger enjoyed collecting "old iron".

Sharing his life are his wife Lorraine of Lake Andes; two daughters, Carla Frey of Rapid City, Carole Frey of Yankton and son Rolaine Frey of Rapid City; brother James H. (Carol Anne) Frey of Avon; and sister Audrey (Jerry) McReavy of Rapid City.

Roger was preceded in death by his two sons, Rodney and Leroy and his parents.
