Ronald Knudsen, Sr., 53, of Wagner
Ronald died unexpectedly, Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Ft. Randall Casino, rural Lake Andes. Funeral services were 10 AM, Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Burial was in St. Phillip's Episcopal Cemetery, Lake Andes, with Military Honors. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald Dale Knudsen, Sr. was born February 18, 1962 to Alexander Knudsen, Sr. and Maxine White Lance. Ron had 11 brothers and sisters and grew up in Lake Andes.
Ron attended Marty Indian School and was an outstanding high school athlete. He ran cross country, played football and basketball and softball in the summers. After graduating high school in 1981, he attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
In 1983, he met Cynthia St. Pierre and to the union five children were born: Chelaine, Mandi, Ron Jr., Starla and Ryan. From his five children he gained 10 grandchildren. In 1985, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his time in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1989, Ron was honorably discharged and went back home to provide a better life for his family.
On June 7, 2013, he wed Sandy Leasure. Happy to add to his family are three step-daughters: Merry Picotte, Melissa (Sanchez) Chrans and Marcy (Sanchez) Joseph. He also gained 13 grandchildren.
Ron will be remembered most by his amazing smile and one of a kind sense of humor. This gift he used to help brighten everyone's day and make life more enjoyable. Ron also exemplified a strong dedication to his work. He was employed at the Fort Randall Casino for 23 years. He also held various 2nd and 3rd jobs.
Ron leaves to mourn his wife Sandy; children: Chelaine, Mandi, Ron Jr., Starla and Ryan; step daughters: Merry, Melissa and Marcy; 23 grandchildren; brothers: Matt Knudsen, Stanford Knudsen; sisters: Debbie Knudsen, Brenda Warrior, Ruby Knudsen and the remaing Knudsen family.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine and father, Alexander Sr.; brothers: Alexander II, Dean, Melvin, Brady; and sisters, Bertha "Boots" and Linda.
