Ronald Winckler, 67, of Lake Andes

Ron died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral Services are 1 PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes, with burial in the Cedar Presbyterian Cemetery. Wake services are Tuesday evening at the community center.

Ronald James Winckler was born to Lucille Flying Hawk Winckler and Robert Winckler on May 13, 1953.

Ron graduated in 1971 from Stanley County High School in Fort Pierre, SD where he loved playing basketball. He was a page in the South Dakota legislature while he was in high school and it was a huge honor for him and his family. After high school he attended the University of South Dakota for three years but left to join the world of work.

Ron was fortunate to have lived across the country from Washington, DC to California but his home was always the Yankton Sioux Reservation where he spent the last 25 years. Ron's last employment before retiring was at the Fort Randall Casino as a slot technician.

Ron loved music, especially Bob Dylan and Neil Young. He loved watching sports with his favorite teams being the Raiders and the Yankees. He was often seen throwing darts in the local establishments with his teams being the Free Spirits and the Spiders. He enjoyed playing board games with anyone who was willing to play.

Ron is survived by his children: Justus, Aram and Alexa. He was also the grandfather to Dakota Rose Goode, who is the mother of Genesis and Tayton World Turner. His other grandchildren are Nolan Black Cloud and Titus Raymond. Ron is also survived by his two brothers: Mark and Keith Winckler and three sisters: Mona Taylor, Kathy Winckler and Myra Winckler.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents: Robert in 1993 and Lucille in 1991; two brothers: Francis Night Pipe in 2016 and Raymond Winckler in 2016.
