Ronny "Ron" Lee Leasure, 77, of Avon

Ron died Monday, October 2, 2023 at his home in Avon, SD. Memorial services will be 11 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. Burial will be 2 PM, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes. Visitation will be at the church from 5-7 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7 PM, Friday, October 6, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lake Andes AA chapter. Peters Funeral Home of Avon is in charge of arrangements.

Ronny "Ron" Lee Leasure, Sr. was born November 21, 1945, in Wagner, South Dakota to Glenn and Helena Leasure.  He was joined by three sisters: Mary Ann, Linda, and Nancy.  Ron attended Andes Central where he met Cheryl Dvoracek.  They were united in marriage on October 23, 1965, in Armour, South Dakota.  To this union, four children were born Ronny Jr., Stacey, Jay, and Misty who were later joined by adopted twin sisters Carmen and Carla.

Ron's passion was truck driving. He joined his son Ronny's truck driving operation and traveled to Alaska. He was a long-term member of AA and strived to help those who were struggling with alcohol addiction.

Ron developed COPD and emphysema and passed away at home on October 2, 2023 at the age of 77.

Ron is survived by his wife Sherry; sister Nancy Meyer; children: Ron Jr. (Tracy), Stacey, Jay (Amber), Carmen, and Carla (Loi); nieces, nephews, 8 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Helena Leasure, parents-in-law Harold and Mildred Wilson; sisters Mary Ann (Vince) Gates and Linda Carlson; brother-in-law Bob Meyer; brother and sister-in-law Orville and Sherry Dvoracek, and daughter Misty (Michael) Culver.
