Ruby White Horse, 83, of Wagner

Ruby died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her home in Wagner. Funeral Services were 1 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Wake services were 8 PM, Tuesday at the American Legion Hall in Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Bernice Jandreau White Horse was born March 28, 1932 at home near Wagner, SD to Albert and Adeline (Archambeau) Jandreau, Sr.

She attended country school in rural Wagner and graduated from Rosebud Boarding School, Mission, SD and was Salutorian and Homecoming Queen.

Ruby married Louis Brings Three White Horses, to this union was born: Patricia (Dean) Carda, Karen (Robert) White Horse, Marilyn (Michael) Redlightning, Richard (Azaelia) White Horse, Constance (James) Vallie, Janice (Chris) Williams and Beverly White Horse. Ruby has a total of 53 grandchildren: this includes grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Ruby was well known for her hand quilted star blankets, she was a seamstress, enjoyed gardening, canning and baseball. She attended a Minnesota Twins game two years ago. She had the company of her beloved tuxedo cat "Paws" for 18 years to entertain her.

Mom loved to bake an cook. She always contributed to the monthly church lunch sale and was the church treasurer for a number of years. She enjoyed listening to old country music, reading and memorizing poetry and enjoyed her casino time. Mom was a fluent Dakota speaker and enjoyed sharing. She worked as a Head Start Aide, janitor and spoke fondly of working at the IHS kitchen.

She had a sense of humor that she shared with everyone and was known as Auntie Ruby or Grandma Ruby. She had an excellent memory of her life story including people, places and events. She cherished her friendships and spent time with family and friends as often as possible.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; step brother Benjamin LaPointe and step-sisters: Betsy Carter and Marie LaPointe; and other relatives.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Adeline; siblings: Matilda, Floyd, Frank Sr., Albert Jr., Joyce and Calvin; three grandsons: Larry and Calvin Picotte and Mato Vallie; and granddaughter-in-law Roxanne Stricker.
