Ruby Wiechmann, 86, of Wagner
Funeral services are 1 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the Wiechmann Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation is Saturday from 11 AM until service time at the church.
Ruby Dolores (Hollmann) Wiechmann was born May 4, 1928 at Armour, SD, the daughter of Otto and Vera (Van Duesen) Hollmann. She died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Ruby attained the age of 86 years, five months and 29 days.
Ruby attended country school in Armour and went to high school in Ravinia until her sophomore year. She started dating her love, Albert Wiechmann when she was 16 and they were married on September 7, 1945 in Armour. Three children were born to their union: Robert, Althea and Allene. They made their home on the Wiechmann family farm northeast of Wagner. In 1973, they sold the farm to their son and moved into Wagner. Ruby started her 25 year career providing daycare in her home once they moved to town. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2012 and moved to Sioux Falls with her daughter.
Ruby will be remembered for her love of quilting, crafts and gardening. She was a member of Ladies Aid at the United Methodist Church and the Neighbors Club.
Thankful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Althea and husband Eric Pearson of Milwaukee, WI; Allene and husband Jerry Toupal of Sioux Falls; daughter-in-law Dianne Wiechmann of Wagner; eight grandchildren: Jamie Wiechmann; Danielle Rezac (Casey); Kelly Rezac; Kari Westenkirchner (Josh); Erica Rauls (Brian); Nick Pearson (Annie); Adam Wiechmann (Kayla); and Ryan Wiechmann (Lauren); 10 great grandchildren; two sisters: Lois Munson of Bonesteel; Marilyn Butts of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Albert; son Robert; parents; brother Ted and sister Peggy Gallager.
