Ruth Biesma, 83, of Springfield

Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 29, 209 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. Burial is in the church cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 PM.

Ruth Denell (Veurink) Biesma was born October 19, 1935 on the Veurink family farm north of New Holland, SD to Gerrit John and Ruby (Jansen) Veurink. She passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Ruth attended New Holland Christian School in New Holland, SD. On March 5, 1956 she married Marlo John Biesma at the Christian Reformed Church in New Holland, SD.
Ruth lived on the Biesma family farm near Springfield with her husband Marlo until 1969 when they and their children moved to Tyndall. She was a stay at home mother raising six children. In the mid 1980's, Marlo and Ruth began operating the Coop Service Station in Tyndall where she did the bookkeeping until their retirement. She spent the past four years as a resident of the Springfield Assisted Living Center.
Ruth was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church where she was a faithful member of the Willing Workers Circle. She enjoyed spending time with family, embroidering, reading, coffee with friends, gardening and raising flowers.
Thankful for having shared her life are her children: daughter Janice (Greg) Myrmoe of Beresford and their children Melissa (Steve) Jelen and sons Brett, Holden, Simon and Caleb, and Kevin (Emilie) Myrmoe; son, Ken (Jill) Biesma of Shawnee, KS, and their sons Mark (Bailey) Biesma and Jason Biesma; daughter, Sheryl (Ken) Breaw of Sioux Falls, and their daughters, Kirstin, Laura (Brian) Nordby and their children Graham and Elise, Sara (Brock) Weeldreyer and daughter Autumn; daughter, Barbara (Jimmy) Owens of Mayo, SC, and their children, Jessica (Mitch) Baker and their sons Gavin and Jackson, Christina Owens and her son Connor, Gabriel and Ashley; son, Keith (Jennifer) Biesma of Wantagh, NY and their son Kyler; and daughter Karla (PR) Olson of Yankton and their children Amber (Austin) Huckins and their son Isaac and Ryan Olson; sisters-in-law Elsie Veurink of New Holland and Betty Adam of Yankton; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Marlo (December 24, 2018), her parents, Marlo's parents, her brothers and sisters Henry, Gradus, Johanna, Jennie, Tony, Minnie, Herman and Ralph and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
