Ruth Roberts, 89, of Wagner

Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Monday, December 18, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in the church cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 PM at the church followed by a Rosary/Wake service at 7 PM.
Ruth June Marie Roberts was born August 16, 1928 at Denver, CO, the daughter of Cecil and Laura (Bradley) Black. She died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner.

Ruth graduated from Wagner High School college at the University of South Dakota/Springfield. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Russell Roberts in Denver, CO on February 12, 1949. Ruth was a teacher at the Big Tobacco country school. She later worked for many years for the Wagner school as a custodian and with the lunch program, until retiring in 1994.

Ruth was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Altar Society (October Band), and was a lifetime member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary.

Ruth will be remembered for her love of spoiling her great grandchildren, having coffee with friends at Boom's restaurant and socializing each day. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Yahtzee, mentoring others and doing community projects at the Wagner Good Samaritan Center and other civic organizations.

Thankful for having shared her life are her daughters, Sheila McDaniel of Mitchell and Barbara (Kevin) Hanten of Delmont; four grandchildren: Jill Crichton, Kay Hanten, John McDaniel and Dennis McDaniel; and four great grandchildren: Wyatt Crichton, Evan Crichton, Jackson McDaniel and Jordan McDaniel.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth on February 26, 1963, and son Thomas in June of 1956.
