Obituary

Sadie Bahmuller, 95, of Springfield

Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Parkston Cemetery in Parkston.

Sadie Marie Bahmuller was born April 8, 1924 at Geddes, SD the daughter of James and Hattie (Braatz) Grajkowske. She died Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.

Sadie attended country schools in both Charles Mix and Hutchison counties and then Parkston High School.

Sadie married Irven Bahmuller on February 28, 1944 in Parkston. She lived in Parkston with husband Irven and daughter Sandra until 1960 when a move to Springfield was to be their last home. Sadie had worked at various jobs in Mitchell, Kankakee, IL and Parkston. Then after moving to Springfield she worked at Norm's Grocery for many years and then Springfield Academy until her retirement at age 70. After her retirement she was a care giver to Randy Talsma for a number of years, becoming like one of the family.

Sadie found that caring for children was very rewarding and was Grandma to many, even though none were her own. She loved baking, sewing, crafting, playing cards and making her famous fudge at Christmas. She enjoyed going to Dakota Senior Meals. Sadie was a member of the United Church of Christ, Ladies Fellowship, Legion Auxiliary and the Springfield Historical Society.

Sadie had lived at the Springfield Assisted Living Center before spending her last days at the Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall. While her life was full, she will surely be missed by all who loved her. Thank you to all who cared for her and loved her.

Thankful for having shared her life are her daughter Sandra and husband Clinton Ellis of Tyndall. She loved Clint like a son and they had a special relationship. Also surviving are her brother-in-law Al Bahmuller of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Irven, six sisters: Minnie Grajkowske, Rose Donovan, Hattie Gering, Elsie Hawley, Frances Nelsen and Mary Gard; four brothers: Fred, William, Dick and Ben Grajkowske; and the brothers and sisters-in-law.
