His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Wagner Community Church, rural Wagner, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 3 to 7, followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of the arrangements.
Samuel Alfred DeNeui, Jr., son of Samuel and Marie (Berens) DeNeui, Sr., was born October 13, 1932 at Lennox. He died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Wagner Community Hospital in Wagner, SD. Sam attained the age of 80 years, two months and seven days.
Sam moved with his family to Wagner in 1940. He attended Wagner High School.
Sam married Shirley Greger on November 12, 1955. A daughter, Rhonda, was blessed to their union.
Sam was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner and was a member of the Wagner Community Church.
Sam worked for Haar Implement as a mechanic for 50 years and retired in 2007. He also enjoyed fishing, farming, raising Weimareners, doing carpentry work and tractors- John Deere tractors.
All who knew Sam will remember his as being a very special friend. He will always be remembered for his smile, love for animals, jokes (everyone loved his jokes) and most of all, his singing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved visiting with his grandchildren and was so proud of all of them.
Grateful to have shared in his life are his daughter, Rhonda Bermudez of Wagner; four grandchildren: Jenny (Toby) Noldner, Sam Bermudez, and Darcie Bermudez, all of Sioux Falls, and Ricky Bermudez of Tarpon Springs, FL; six great grandchildren: Whitney, Sam, Jason and Kyra Noldner and Brandon and Jordan Bermudez; two sisters: Margaret Moderegger and Florence Kuemper, both of Sioux Falls; and many relatives and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, John Richard Bermudez; three brothers-in-law: Sam, Ronald and Donald Greger; and his ex-wife, Shirley.
