Shirley Anderson, 74 of Wagner
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Pickstown Community Church in Pickstown, SD,. with burial at the Randall Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner Tuesday from 4pm to 8 pm, with the family present from 6 to 8.
Shirley Beth Anderson, daughter of Arden C. and Agnes Elizabeth (Rouse) Johnson, was born July 7, 1933 in Holt County, Nebraska. She died Friday, March 21, 2008 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Shirley attained the age of 74 years, eight months and 15 days.
Shirley attended country school near Spencer, NE and Spencer Public School.
Shirley married Melvin C. Anderson on January 20, 1951 in O'Neill, NE. Five children were born to their union: Joseph, who died in 1996, Peggy, Kathleen, Debra and Dennis. They lived on the farm in Randall Valley for 52 years, where they raised cattle, hay and some crops. Shirley enjoyed farming and ranching on their place in Randall Valley. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner in October of 2003. Melvin died November 18, 2003.
Shirley attended the Randall Valley Covenant Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Peggy and husband, Jim Sip of Brandon, Kathy Fuller of Aberdeen, Debra Affeldt of Montrose, and Dennis and wife, Gail of Arlington, NE; daughter-in-law, Janet Anderson of Bassett, NE; 12 grandchildren: Jina (John) Wright, Teri (Joe) McDaniel, Joe (Tricia) Anderson, Micole (Brandon) Yaw, Michelle (Paul) Micka, Mike (Amy) Sip, Jeremy Sorensen, Tony Sorensen, Kyle Zimmer, Trevor Zimmer, Garren Anderson and Brandon Anderson; ten great grandchldren; three brothers: Bob and wife, Belva Johnson of Umapilla, OR, Ray and wife, Delores Johnson of Butte, NE and Lyle Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters: Mavis Fernen and Dorothy Soukup and husband, Bill all of Omaha, NE; and many relatives.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; son, Joseph; parents; and three sisters: Leila Johnson, LaDonna Bowers and Maude Cizek Johnson.
