Shirley Roseland, 88, of Springfield

Shirley Jean (Coleman) Martin Roseland was born July 10, 1936 on the family farm east of Springfield to Roy and Mabel (Wheeler) Coleman. She passed away on October 23, 2024 at the Tyndall Good Samaritan Society.

Shirley attended country school District 35 Pleasant Ridge School and Springfield High School.

Shirley married Doyle F. Martin on December 30, 1951. Four children were born to their union.

Shirley was a member of the UCC Church and Eastern Star for over 50 years.

Shirley enjoyed playing many card games with family and friends. Pinochle was her favorite. She also loved dancing to country music, cooking, baking, and collecting cookbooks and coffee mugs.

Shirley always worked outside of the home. She worked as a bartender at Norms, as a laundromat manager, Mt Rushmore gift shop, school bus driver and in food service for many years.

Shirley Married Mike Roseland on January 17, 1991.

Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Mike of Springfield, four children: Debra (Merritt) Ludens of Spearfish, James (Angie) Martin of Springfield, Kim (Myron) Bierema of Springfield, and Royleen "Neeny" (Verlyn) Jelsma of Springfield; 10 grandchildren: Troy (Angela) Ludens, Jamie (Shawn) Ludens, Chad (Amy) Martin, Ryan Martin, Matthew (Tricia) Bierema, Chanda Bierema and Justin Dewald, Jeremie (Annette) Jelsma, Joni Jelsma, Jennifer (Scott) Fritz and Jess Jelsma and Dalton; 24 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother Lyle Coleman of Las Cruces, NM; 3 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law all of Rapid City; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband Doyle F. Martin on December 26, 1986; parents Roy and Mabel Coleman; brother Robert Coleman; and sisters-in-law Evelyn Coleman and Barb Coleman.

A private burial will be held at the Springfield Cemetery.
