Simeon died Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Marty Community Center. He will be cremated following his funeral. Wake services will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday and Thursday at the Marty Community Center.
Simeon Cummings Jr. was born January 10, 1965 in St. Louis, MO to the union of Esther and Simeon Cummings Sr. He was the oldest boy of 11 children which include: Joyce, Jacqueline, Jeanette, Joann, Juanita, Julia, Janet, Steve, Ronnie and Robert. Simeon received a respectable education in East St. Louis public school district #189.. He attended Rock Jr. High School and went on to East St. Louis Senior High School. Simeon was known as one of the best Chefs. He started his very first job in St. Louis, Missouri as a cook. He made the paper for his excellent work ethic while working in St. Louis. He then went on to Omaha, NE where he continued his duties as a chef.
From Omaha he moved to Norfolk, NE where he continued working at a handful of restaurants and catering businesses with his brother-in-law Cletus. Norfolk is also where he met his wife Yvette and had two beautiful girls, Juanita and Nicole, who he cherished dearly. He helped his wife raise 9 kids and 18 grandkids, not including his two baby boys A’Jani and Rakeem. They later moved to Marty, SD where he continued his work as a chef and dedicated 20 year to the Fort Randall Casino which he very much enjoyed. He was a God fearing man and believed in working hard to provide for his family which he did until his last breath. Simeon was a story teller, friend, father, brother, cousin, grandpa and husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie Cummings, two sisters: Jacqueline Moore and Janet Cummings; and his stepson Randall, whom he thought of as his own.
Simeon leaves to mourn his two daughters, six step children, 26 grandkids, seven siblings and his loving wife Yvette.
