Sonia McGhee, 36, of Lake Andes

Wake services were held at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Funeral were 10 AM, Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Center with burial in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery in Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Sonia Rae McGhee/Big Eagle of Lake Andes entered into the spirit world at at 36 on November 26, 2016. Sonia is the daughter of Mary Dog Soldier/McGhee (deceased) Lake Andes and Wilbur Big Eagle (deceased) of Crow Creek and the granddaughter of Sophie Archambeau (deceased) of Lake Andes and Ather Dog Soldier (deceased) of Rosebud. Sonia is the youngest sister of 9 siblings: Tamara Whirlwind Horse of Alliance, NE, Jeffrey McGhee of Mitchell, Wayne Jr. McGhee (deceased), Nancy Dog Soldier McGhee of Lake Andes, Jason McGhee of Lake Andes, Tina Fallis of Fort Thompson, David McGhee (deceased) and Joshua McGhee of Wagner.

Sonia was born in Chamberlain on February 28, 1980. She was baptized in the Episcopal Church. She attended Andes Central School and lived most of her adolescence and adult life in Lake Andes. Sonia gave life to 2 children, Raymond and Rainy Dion. She was never married, but had a long term relationship with Lorenzo Dion, Jr. Sonia has several nieces and nephews. She lived in Chamberlain and worked as a sandwich artist at Subway. Sonia worked at the Fort Randall Casino as Surveillance Officer. SOnia attended college at the Ihanktonwan College in Marty.

Sonia enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters, also her friends and her two children. Sonia also liked to bead, she made a lot of baeded items for family and friends. She was an amazing Native American beading artist. Sonia enjoyed walking, watching movies with her children and keeping in contact with all her friends on Facebook. Sonia will be greatly missed by all who loved her dearly an she will never be forgotten. Rest in peace our sister, daughter, auntie, mother and friend. We love you.
