Stacey Red Buffalo, 35 of rural Dante
Funeral services are 2 PM, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Red Buffalo residence in rural Dante, SD. Burial is in the Red Buffalo Family Cemetery. Wake services are being held at their residence. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Stacey Allen Red Buffalo (Lowanku), son of Steve Red Buffalo, Sr. and Joyce Andrews, was born February 16, 1974 at Yankton, SD. Seven children were born to this union: Bryan Red Buffalo, Bonesteel, SD; Stephanie Red Buffalo, Flandreau, SD; Steve Red Buffalo, Jr., Santee, NE; Kevin Red Buffalo, Sioux City, IA; Joy (Scott) Weigel,Tomah, WI; Twila (Jamie )Chinana, Santee, NE; and brother, Waylon Greger, Wagner, SD. Steve later married Pam Miner and to this union two daughters were born: Vanessa Red Buffalo, Santee, NE and Julia Red Buffalo, Choteau Creek, SD. Also surviving is a step brother, Vern Miner, Eagle Butte, SD.
Lowanku attended school until the ninth grade, at which time he earned his GED. From there, he drove the Marty Indian School bus for several years. Stacey later moved to Santee, NE, where he began employment at Feather Hill in 2004. He worked there until his illness.
Lowanku loved to sing and dance to all sorts of music. Most of all he loved and cared for his family, friends and all children. As his Dad was, Lowanku was a very strong leader in his spirituality.
Stacey (Lowanku) is survived by four brothers, five sisters: and many nephews, nieces and grandchildren.
Stacey was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents: Ernest and Edith Red Buffalo; his maternal grandparents: Jesse and Mercy Andrews; great grandparents: Steve and Delila Jandreau; and two aunties: Gloria Aungie and Donna Andrews.
