Steven J. Soukup, 83, of Wagner
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M, Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in St. John Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Visitation is Sunday from 3 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Rosary/ Wake services are 7 PM, Sunday, at the church.
Steven Joseph Soukup was born March 3, 1929, the son of Frank and Mathilda (Kocer) Soukup, at the "Sadler Place" south of Wagner, SD in Lawrence Township. He died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. He attained the age of 83 years and five days.
Steve attended school through the eighth grade in Lawrence Township. He served his country in the US Army from 1951 through 1954, during the Korean War.
Steve grew up on the farm and farmed his entire life with his brothers, Frank and John.
Steve was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Workmen, the American Legion and the VFW.
Steve will be remembered for his his enjoyment of farming and bowling.
Thankful for having shared his life are his three sisters: Ann and husband Richard Doty of Wagner; Marcella and husband Dean Stoltenberg of Brandon; and Martha and husband Richard Tomko of Glenshaw, PA; brother, John and wife Monica Soukup of Wagner; two sisters-in-law: Joan Soukup of Las Vegas, NV; and Marla Soukup of Wagner; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother in 1970, father in 1976, brothers: Frank in 2002 and Leo; and an infant sister.
