Thomas A. Thomson, 90, of Lake Andes
Visitation is Sunday from 6 to 7 PM, followed by Rosary/Wake Services at 7 PM at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes. Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM, Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Mark's. Burial is in St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery, Lake Andes with military honors. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas Andrew Thomson was born December 8, 1927 in Platte, SD, the son of Theodore and Josephine (Paulson) Thomson. He passed into eternal life on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at his home in rural Lake Andes, with his wife and family by his side.
Tom graduated from Platte High School in 1945. He worked various jobs before joining the United States Air Force in 1950. While in the Air Force he worked in aircraft maintenance for the 509th Bomb Squadron in Newburgh, NY. He later cross trained into computer operations in NORAD (Northern Air Defense Command). He had many assignments around the world. Some of them were in Guam, Japan, Thule Greenland, Germany and England. While serving in England, he met Margaret McFarlane. They were married on October 16, 1954at St Oswald Catholic Church in Ashton in Makerfield, England. After 23 years of military service, he and his family settled in Lake Andes, SD. Tom was the manager at Randall Community Water District until he retired in 1980.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and reloading ammunition. His most treasured time was that which was spent with his wife and family.
Tom was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes and the Knights of Columbus.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife of 63 years, Margaret Thomson of Lake Andes; children: Donna (Troy) Hendrickson of Running Water, SD, Patricia Koenig of Casper, WY, Karen (Kevin) McMann of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rob (Julie) Thomson of Lake Andes, SD, Tom (Donna) Thomson of Slayton, MN, Mary (Keith) Dumdei of Bradenton, FL, Lisa (Russyl) Willette of North Liberty, IA, and Sarah (Jay) Addison of Stuart, NE. He will be greatly missed by his 28 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Mace of Tyndall; brother, Morris Thomson of Austin, TX; and sister-in-law, Luella Thomson of Mason City, IA.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edwin Thomson; grandsons, Nicholas Dumdei and twins, Jacob and Vincent Addison; and his son-in-law William Koenig.
