Thurman Cournoyer, Jr., 51, of Marty

Thurman died Sunday, July 3, 2022 at the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Ihanktonwan Community Center in Marty. Burial is in St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Wake services will begin Tuesday at the Community Center.

Thurman Cournoyer, Jr. was born on January 13, 1971 to Thurman Cournoyer, Sr. & Darlene Yellow Hawk in Rosebud, S.D. He grew up in Parmelee, S.D. He attended He Dog School & Marty Indian School.

He met his wife, Darlene Four Horns and together they had 5 kids. Deborah Cournoyer, Samantha (Bertin) Garcia, Thurman Cournoyer, lll aka Boy, Jennifer (Jeremy) Cournoyer, and Victoria (Armando) Cournoyer. Some years later he met his girlfriend, Laura Jandreau, and spent 18 years together.

He loved spending time with all of his grandkids, who he cherished very much. He also enjoyed cooking, especially his Lima Bean Soup. He was "the best" fry bread maker. Jr. also enjoyed working. He was known best for his plumbing and being a great electrician. He also loved sitting with his Dad and listening to music. They both knew how to tell stories.

Thurman Jr. is survived by his dad Thurman, Sr., his kids and grandkids, and his brothers & sisters: Kenny, Dewey, Emma, Wayne, Hazel and Lisa.

He was preceded in death by his mother Darlene, his wife Darlene Four Horns, his sister Angeline Cournoyer & grandson Karter Cournoyer. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
