Virgil Cooke, Jr., 63, of Wagner

Funeral services are 10AM Friday, June 17, 2022 at the YST South Housing Community Gym. Burial is at the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Wake services will begin Wednesday at the Gym. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Virgil William Cooke, Jr. was born in Wagner, SD on November 9, 1958 to Virgil Sr. and Mary Luise Cooke. He died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Ava's house in Sioux Falls.

Virgil's siblings are: Robert (deceased), Frances, Julie, Brent St., Virna (Lisa) and Regina.

Virgil attended Marty Indian Mission in Marty. He was in football and softball. He played for the Yankton Sioux's and Renegades. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Yankton Sioux Roads Department, was a garbage man, a mechanic, and a jack of all trades. He liked to work on cars, his favorite on e was named Rez Runner, which was a race car that competed against locals at Tomahawk Speedway. In his pare time, he liked to do crafts, making numerous items over the years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Virgil leaves behind three daughters: Lindsey, Carla, and CeeAnne; his grandchildren: Christopher, Jacquelynne, Jillian, Macy, Dusty, Clarysia, SonShyne, Izzabelle, Rico, Kayo, Tayla and TateWin; great grandchildren: Kholel, Oaklynn and Naveah.
