Virgil Harder, 71, of Springfield
Funeral services are 1 PM, Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 PM, with the family present from 6 - 7 PM at the funeral home.
Virgil Elmer Harder was born July 19, 1940 at Franklin, MN, the son of Elmer and Doris (Wilson) Harder. He died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at his home in Springfield, SD. Virgil attained the age of 71 years, four months and five days.
Virgil married Barbara Allen at Willmar, MN at Bethel Lutheran Church. He worked as a mechanic and owned his own shop, Harder's Repair in Hot Springs. Virgil later worked at Trail King in Mitchell from 1982 to 1992 and at CR Industries in Springfield from 1992 until 2008.
Virgil will be remembered for his love of working on cars, playing cards, fishing and golfing.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Barbara Harder of Springfield; four children: Robert and wife Missy Harder of Newcastle, WY; Jeffery and wife Tammy Harder of Wells, MN; Jason and wife Tanya Harder of Sioux Falls, SD; and Katrina Harder of Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two brothers: Jerry and wife Betty Harder of Spicer, MN and Lonnie and wife Nancy Harder of Willmar, MN.
Virgil was preceded in death by a son, David on November 10, 1966; parents; and mother and father-in-law, Eleanor and Jack Gulke.
