Vivian M. Lupton, 86 of Springfield

Vivian died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Avera St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall, SD. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield, with burial in the Springfield Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, from 2 pm to 7 pm.

Vivian Mae Lupton, daughter of Arthur and Lennie (Kessler) Anderson, was born March 6, 1922 at Gregory, SD. She died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Avera St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall, SD. Vivian attained the age of 86 years, 11 months and 19 days.

Vivian and her family moved to Montana for a few years and then returned to Gregory. She graduated from Gregory High School in 1940. Vivian married John W. Lupton on March 22, 1941 at Ainsworth, NE. Five children were born to their union.They lived in the Gregory area until moving to Springfield in 1966. John died February 27, 1974. Vivian became of resident of the Springfield Assisted Living Center in January of 2008.

Vivian was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, and watching TV. Her favorite hobby was quilting. Vivian's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vivian was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Thankful for having shared her life are her children: Jerry and wife, Ilonka of Tyndall, Merle of Sioux Falls, Lennie Anderson and husband, Joe of Mills, NE; Sandy DeFries and husband, Darrel of Tyndall, and Candace Hansen of Sioux Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Cecil; sister, Lois Iden; and daughter-in-law, Karon.
