Waldon Olson, 69, of Pickstown
Funeral services will be 10 AM, Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Andes Central Auxiliary Gym in Lake Andes. Visitation will be Friday from 5 - 7 PM at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Following the funeral services, Waldon will be cremated.
Waldon Clarence Olson was born April 18, 1955 in Madison, SD, the son of Clarence E. And Edelyn (Dalhberg) Olson. After a year of battling cancer, Waldon went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at his home in Pickstown, surrounded by family.
Waldon graduated from Fairfax High School in 1973. He earned an Associates Degree from USD/Springfield. In 1975, Waldon had a scholarship to play basketball for USD/S where he was a starter on the team.
Waldon married Karen Hatwan on September 3, 1977 at Pickstown. Through the years, Waldon farmed, worked for SBI, Soil Conservation, Wagner Building Supply and Bob Kurtz.
Waldon will be remembered for his love of being around his kids and grandkids, and he loved going to his grandkids basketball and volleyball games. Waldon also coached with his youngest son Eric for the AC/DC Boys Basketball team for two years. He was also known for his for his love of God, goose hunting, carpentry, one liners and always giving his friends and family a hard time.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Karen Olson of Pickstown, four children: PJ Olson of Fairfax, April (Brian) Morgan of Armour, Eric Olson of Corsica and Anna Swanson of Plymouth, NE; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother Dave (Lisa) Lentz of Huron and two sisters: Charlene Lentz of England, and Jean (Steve) Karjalainen of Frederick.
Waldon was preceded in death by three sons, parents Clarence and Edelyn Olson and four grandchildren.
