Walter J. Einrem, 88 of Springfield
His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2015 at the United Church of Christ, with burial in the Springfield Cemetery. VIsitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5, with the family present from 4 to 5 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield.

Walter Joseph Einrem, son of Jospeh M. and Martha (Dykstra) Einrem, was born July 11, 1927 on a farm west of Springfield. He died Friday, August 7, 2015 at St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall. Walt attained the age of 88 years and 28 days.

Walt attended country school in Bon Homme through the eighth grade.

Walt married Lillian Ameala Wynia on December 28, 1946. Five children were blessed to their union. Besides raising their own family, he and Lil helped raise lots of other children.

Walt farmed, drove the ferry boat, fished and trapped. The family later moved into Springfield, and he began working for the Bon Homme County Highway Department until he retired in 1992.

Walt will be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing and spoiling his grandchildren with ice cream.

Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Jim and wife Kerrin of Verdigre, NE; Jerry (died November 5, 2002) and wife Debbie of Springfield; Jan Hammond of Springfield; Jeff and wife Nicole of Tabor; and Jack and wife Susan of Hastings, NE; 13 grandchildren: Jamey Einrem, Sandy Schipper, Jessica Semler, Nick Einrem, Julie, Jen and Joe Hammond, Sam Gullikson, Abby and Jozie Einrem, Sarah Waldron, Melissa Milliken and Marie Behrends; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Walt was preceded in death by his wife on August 3, 2012; his son Jerry; parents; and two brothers: Elmer "Tub" and Bob.
