Wayne Bergin, Sr., 76, of Wagner
Wayne died Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Public visitation will be Friday from 3 to 5 PM at the Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Private Rosary/Wake services will be held. A private Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM, Saturday, July 11, 2020 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner. The public may join in procession to the burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner.
Wayne Stanley Bergin was born August 25, 1943 to Stanley and Mary (McElroy) Bergin in Lake Andes, SD. He passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society Home after a long battle with health issues.
Wayne attended Ravinia Consolidated School until he was 15, when his father passed away and he quit school to take over the farm. Wayne married Leona M. Bures on December 28, 1965 in Lake Andes, SD. They resided on the family farm west of Wagner for 50 years.
Wayne will be remembered for his sense of humor, smile, love for his family and as a hard working farmer. He enjoyed farming, tending to the animals, listening to polka music and playing cards with his card group.
Thankful for having shared his life was his wife Leona and their four children: Carl (Donell) Bergin of Meadowlands, MN, Colette Bergin of Beavercreek, OH, Connie (Tony) Miles of College Station, TX and Wayne Jr (Jayme) Bergin of Wagner; six grandchildren: Katelyn, Hailey, Megan, Taylor, Cole and Callie; his sister Betty (Paul) Wentland of Sun City West, AZ; brothers/sisters-in law Ernie Ray (Debbie) Bures of Tyndall, JoAnn (Ron) Mazourek of Wagner, Richard (Deb) Bures of Aberdeen, Marilyn (Greg) Markley of Aberdeen, Tom (Donajean) Bures of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Helen-Babe (Brian) Martin of Amarillo, TX, Frank (Dawn) of Sioux Falls, Alona Ebright of Lake Andes, and Kathryn (George) Anderson Olson Dose; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leona, an infant daughter Rose Marie; his parents, his sister, Ruby Schaefer, brother Lyle Bergin, father-in-law Ernest Bures, mother-in-law Irene Bures and brother-in-law Edward Bures.
