William "Bud" Hyde, 83, of Yankton
William "Bud" Hyde died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Sister James Nursing Home in Yankton, South Dakota. Funeral services are 2 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM and Wednesday from 9 AM to noon at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.
William "Bud" Charles Hyde, son of David and Josephine (Johnson) Hyde, was born April 26, 1926 on the family farm south of Wagner, SD. He was one of 11 children. Bud died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Sister James Nursing Home in Yankton, SD, having attained the age of 83 years, four months and nine days.
Bud attended the Wahehe Country School through the eighth grade and Wagner High School for one year. Due to his father's failing health, he began farming.
Bud married Lois Woods on June 1, 1948 in Wagner. Two sons were blessed to their union. They farmed on the home place along the river bottom until he retired in 1988. In 1995, Bud moved into the Heritage Court in Wagner. In 2005, Bud and Lois moved to Yankton. Due to failing health, Bud entered the Sister James Care Center in Yankton on May 27, 2009.
Bud was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Bud will be remembered for his love of gardening, wood working, carving canes, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed cooking and baking and his relatives will especially remember his divinity candy.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Lois of Yankton; sister Ethel Baxter of Eugene, OR; and many nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his sons: Randall on June 4, 1983 and Lance on December 30, 1988; four brothers: James, Henry, Vern and David; and five sisters: Helen Schroeder, Fredis Elliott, Marian Deurmier, Mabel Ells and Alyce Fischer.
