William "Bill" F. Maule, 78 of Pickstown



died peacefully Friday, September 14, 2007 at this home in Pickstown, SD. His funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner from 12 to 5 pm Tuesday, followed by a 7:00 pm prayer service at the church.

William Fredrick Maule was born September 20, 1928 at David City, NE, the son of Frank and Ruth (Brown) Maule. He died peacefully Friday, September 14, 2007 at this home in Pickstown, SD. Bill attained the age of 78 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Bill graduated from David City High School in David City, NE. He married Virginia Pensick on August 9, 1950 at Columbus, ND. Three children were blessed to their union. Virginia died February 8, 1986. Bill married Betty Kalkus on December 1, 1987 at Wagner. She died December 15, 2000.

Bill first worked as a lineman for an electric company in David City, then Loup River Public Power District and later the power plant in Columbus. The family moved to Pickstown, SD in May of 1956. Bill retired after 35 years as the senior power house operator in Pickstown.

Bill was a member of the Fort Randall Gun Club,the NRA, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, the Credit Union Board, Randall Hills Country Club, and the United Methodist Church in Wagner. He served as the first mayor of Pickstown and a Boy Scout leader for many years. Bill kept direct involvement in the city of Pickstown up to the time of his death.

Bill was an avid Nebraska football fan. He will be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, collecting coins, golfing, reading Westerns and about history. Bill will especially be remembered for his love of his family and spending time with them.

Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Susan Krcil of Gillette, WY, Deborah Warejcka and husband, Steve of Story, WY, and William, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Wagner; five grandchildren; Wendy, Barbie, Jill, Ed and Emma; three great grandchildren: Austin, DehLaney, and Corbin; one sister, Helen Wycoff of Belton, MO; and many friends.

Bill was preceded in death by both of his wives and his parents.
